About
Hello,
I will use this page to tell you a little bit about myself. My name is Carl Shuler. I live in Fromberg, Montana 37 miles south
of Billings. I am married and have
three sons.
My
two oldest sons, John and Logan, both suffer from mental illnesses. It has been very challenging and educational
for my wife and myself to find the medical and therapeutic care necessary to
ensure the best possible quality of life for them. This is the motivation behind this project. I feel that other people should have
available to them the resources and support of someone who has been there.
Through
several years of trial and error, as well as many hours spent researching and
sifting through the information about mental illnesses and treatment options, I
have learned a great deal about what works and what doesn’t work. I also realize that no two people are alike
and what works for one may not work for another. It is also important to note that the stigma of mental illness is
far less pronounced today than it was 10, 20, or 30 years ago.
The
medical and scientific communities have made significant progress over the
years in the treatment and understanding of mental illness. While there is no cure at this time,
progress is being made and the understanding of the causes of various forms of
mental illness is increasing constantly.
I am very optimistic that eventually, hopefully soon, the scientific community
will make a breakthrough in identifying the exact underlying causes of many, if
not all, mental illnesses. When this
happens, we will be on the road to a cure.
